The Louisiana Drillers, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that Davis Van Gemerden will be returning for the 2016-17 season.
Davis, an 18 year old forward from Pensacola, Florida, has spent most of the summer in Lafayette working out and skating on the ice to improve on his 14 goals and 12 assists last season as he is set on reaching 50 points or more this year. Van Gemerden has also set a goal to be a team leader on and off the ice for the younger players as this will be his third season in the NA3HL and Davis will be counted on to be a leader of the Drillers this upcoming season with his age and experience.
"Davis is a big strong lad who has great speed and shoots the puck like a pro, but he needs to use his speed by jumping to the holes and use his breakaway speed more effectively”, said Head Coach, Kevin "Killer" Kaminski. Davis was one of the top scorers last year, but the coaching staff would like to see him play more physical on a consistent basis and put fear in the opposing team’s defense. “If Davis would play like the power forward he can be, it will create more room for himself and his teammates”, said Kaminski.
Davis is a great young man and will be a vital part of the Drillers success this year on and off the ice. As an organization, we are extremely happy that Davis is returning this season!
The Louisiana Drillers will hold their Main Camp on August 25-29 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Season tickets and flex tickets are now available by contacting ladrillers.com.
